Thor Wields Mjolnir in Movie Still

Thor Claims His Hammer Mjolnir in Movie Still

Thor Lifts Mjolnir in New Marvel Movie

Thor Lifts Hammer in New Marvel Movie

This is the first image from the Thor movie that has actually got me excited. It’s sad because he’s not in costume and he doesn’t look very heroic but something about his pose and the hammer just screams Thor to me. This image is actually NOT the first appearance in Mjolnir in Marvel Ent. movies. It first appeared in the rolling credits for Marvel’s Iron Man 2 starring Robert Downey Jr. The clips below featured S.H.I.E.L.D. agents investigating the hammer in New Mexico/Oklahoma.

Thor Movie Update: Odin, (Helmet-Less Thor), and Loki Photo

First Look at Odin’s & Loki’s costumes from Thor (2011)

Odin, Thor and, Loki Image from Thor (2011) Movie

I am not a fan of these weird metal weaved superhero costumes. Given me viking-inspired Asgardians any day. I also can’t help but think this is going to be from a purely super-science that looks like magic perspective which is a part of the Thor mythos but I much rather have the JMS/Coipel magical floating Asgard in Oklahoma mythos. I hope Kelda and Bill of Bills makes an appearance.

The Chaos War: Hercules Returns, Mikaboshi Strikes!

Heroic Age Marvel Event: The Chaos War

Hercules Returns in The Chaos War

Hercules Returns in The Chaos War

“The Chaos King, the living embodiment of the void before time and space began, has decided he liked things better before everything was,” explains editor Jordan White. “He’s on a mission to wipe out all of existence with an army of alien space gods at his back, and the only ones who can stop him are the gods of Earth’s pantheons, lead by the all-new God Squad! Hercules leads Thor, Sersi, Venus, Galactus, and The Silver Surfer in protecting all of reality against The Chaos King!

Virtually every mythology describes a state of chaos and darkness that existed before creation itself,” Pak says. “The Chaos King is the personification of that chaos and darkness. In essence, he’s the antithesis of creation.

A villain with such power and motivation as well as an army of subjugated gods won’t be easily taken down, so it’s up to the recently resurrected Hercules to lead the God Squad, a task he’s not necessarily too thrilled about.”

Why Idris Elba Being A Black Asgardian Doesn’t Bother Me

Journey Into Mystery Vol. 3 #503

Journey Into Mystery Vol. 3 #503

Back in the early 90’s, Asgardian part of the Marvel Universe got a major makeover – Thor was displaced from 616 to a terrible “Image” inspired Hero Reborn Universe. As a consequence to this abortion, Thor dropped out of his own series beginning with issue #503 and his book’s title was restored toJourney into Mystery. The series continued with the “Lost Gods” storyline (which ran through issue #513). Due to something or other, the Asgardian Gods was all remade as human being – They become the Lost Gods.

While some still appeared as they had, many of the Asgardians became different ethnicities.  Among them was Heimdall -He is the brother of the warrior Sif. He is the all-seeing and all-hearing guardian sentry of Asgard, he stands on the rainbow bridge, Bifrost and stands watch for any attacks to Asgard. He partly won the role through using his eyesight to see an army of giants several days’ march from Asgard, allowing them to be defeated before they reached Asgard. He became Donald Velez – a Hispanic man.

So when I saw that the noted BLACK actor, Idris Elba, was chosen to play Heimdall for the Thor movie. I didn’t really mind.

“Black Asgardian God! Blasphemy,” yelled the internet – the internet deemed it reverse racism and another instance of Hollywood Black washing a white role to make it more marketable. To those internet retards I say thee nay!

Marvel Comics already set a precedence for multi-racial Asgardians because the previous mentioned Lost Gods storyline. Asgardians can be black, white, and every color in-between – so if Brave Baldur (Odin illegitimate heir) can be a black man, I think the guardian of a gay rainbow bridge can certainly be a black man. The only question I have is – how are they going to explain him and Sif being sibling?

Know Your Heroic Age Avengers: Thor

I am an (Heroic Age) Avenger…Thor

Thor Odinson

Thor - Heroic Age Avengers

Ages ago, Odin, lord of the gods of Asgard, desired a child of both Asgard and Midgard (Earth), and therefore sought out and wooed Gaea, the eldest goddess of the Earth. Gaea gave birth to Thor in a small cave in Norway, and Odin took him to be raised in Asgard by his wife, Frigga.

The young Thor grew up alongside his step-brother Loki, who was always jealous of Thor, the favored son. Thor excelled in power and popularity, and on his eighth birthday, Odin had the hammer Mjolnir created, enchanting it with powerful magic. He decreed that Mjolnir would be presented to Thor when he had been proven a worthy warrior, and Thor spent the next several years training and performing heroic deeds. Indeed, eight years later, Odin gave the hammer to Thor, declaring him to be the greatest warrior in Asgard.

Thor traveled to Earth for the first time in the Ninth Century A.D., in response to his worship among the Vikings. Thor reveled in his worship, leading many in battle and extolling the way of the warrior. Years later, a set of Vikings killed innocent inhabitants of a Christian monastery in Thor’s name. In shock and disillusion, Thor cut himself off from his worshippers and returned to Asgard. The Asgardian religion would never be as fervent, eventually dying out completely over the centuries.

Siege – New Avengers End, Dawn of Heroic Age

Witness the Marvel Universe triumph over its greatest challenges ever as the HEROIC AGE ignites! Still lurking in the shadows are forces of evil and cosmic-level threats, but a new spirit of hope, courage, and the selflessness at the heart of heroism will rise up. The most extraordinary tales ever will be told in this Heroic Age of the Marvel Universe. The Age of Heroes is upon us!

After five years, it seems the New Avengers is coming to a close. I’m actually happy that it is – I loved the comic the whole way through and nearly have every issue but since Civil War, it hasn’t felt like the Avengers. Much in the same sense that the Justice League doesn’t feel like the League without Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. It just didn’t feel important or big enough. To me, the Avengers will always be Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor. Now that the Avengers books are being updated and streamlined (hopefully) I hope that the X-Universe gets the same make over. Utopia and all these mutant just hanging out on an island is dull and I miss having an actual cast of characters I see every month. Not random comments from everyone while Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Wolverine do all the work.
