Thor Wields Mjolnir in Movie Still

Thor Claims His Hammer Mjolnir in Movie Still

Thor Lifts Hammer in New Marvel Movie

This is the first image from the Thor movie that has actually got me excited. It’s sad because he’s not in costume and he doesn’t look very heroic but something about his pose and the hammer just screams Thor to me. This image is actually NOT the first appearance in Mjolnir in Marvel Ent. movies. It first appeared in the rolling credits for Marvel’s Iron Man 2 starring Robert Downey Jr. The clips below featured S.H.I.E.L.D. agents investigating the hammer in New Mexico/Oklahoma.

Thor Movie Update: Odin, (Helmet-Less Thor), and Loki Photo

First Look at Odin’s & Loki’s costumes from Thor (2011)

Odin, Thor and, Loki Image from Thor (2011) Movie

I am not a fan of these weird metal weaved superhero costumes. Given me viking-inspired Asgardians any day. I also can’t help but think this is going to be from a purely super-science that looks like magic perspective which is a part of the Thor mythos but I much rather have the JMS/Coipel magical floating Asgard in Oklahoma mythos. I hope Kelda and Bill of Bills makes an appearance.

Why Idris Elba Being A Black Asgardian Doesn’t Bother Me

Journey Into Mystery Vol. 3 #503

Journey Into Mystery Vol. 3 #503

Back in the early 90’s, Asgardian part of the Marvel Universe got a major makeover – Thor was displaced from 616 to a terrible “Image” inspired Hero Reborn Universe. As a consequence to this abortion, Thor dropped out of his own series beginning with issue #503 and his book’s title was restored toJourney into Mystery. The series continued with the “Lost Gods” storyline (which ran through issue #513). Due to something or other, the Asgardian Gods was all remade as human being – They become the Lost Gods.

While some still appeared as they had, many of the Asgardians became different ethnicities.  Among them was Heimdall -He is the brother of the warrior Sif. He is the all-seeing and all-hearing guardian sentry of Asgard, he stands on the rainbow bridge, Bifrost and stands watch for any attacks to Asgard. He partly won the role through using his eyesight to see an army of giants several days’ march from Asgard, allowing them to be defeated before they reached Asgard. He became Donald Velez – a Hispanic man.

So when I saw that the noted BLACK actor, Idris Elba, was chosen to play Heimdall for the Thor movie. I didn’t really mind.

“Black Asgardian God! Blasphemy,” yelled the internet – the internet deemed it reverse racism and another instance of Hollywood Black washing a white role to make it more marketable. To those internet retards I say thee nay!

Marvel Comics already set a precedence for multi-racial Asgardians because the previous mentioned Lost Gods storyline. Asgardians can be black, white, and every color in-between – so if Brave Baldur (Odin illegitimate heir) can be a black man, I think the guardian of a gay rainbow bridge can certainly be a black man. The only question I have is – how are they going to explain him and Sif being sibling?

RoboFury – Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2’s Secret Character

All Your Base Are Belong to RoboFury.

RoboFury: All Your Base Are Belong to Us

Sorry not to use spoilers or whatever but I’m really pissed at some decisions the developers of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 have made. RoboFury (as the internet is referring to him) is on the top of my list.  How could they string us along for weeks about this secret character when it is the MUA version of Cyber-Akuma.

RobFury - Nick Fury

I do have to say this – RoboFury looks a lot like Cats (All Your Base Are Belong to Us). Everything from the tacky cybernetic eye patch to the smug attitude, it’s like RoboFury and Cats are long lost brothers. I can only hope the MUA2 scene where RoboFury shows up begins like Zero Wing with Captain America being the Captain and all the other roles going to the supporting cast (I imagine Spider-man as Operator and Ironman as Mechanic).

In the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I found myself really hating all of Thor’s other costumes with the exception of the Ultimates default.  But I’m really looking forward to the sequel because not only do I get another comic book game that doesn’t completely suck (hopefully) but I also get to play as Thor in his Oliver Coipel designed costume.

While this shouldn’t be the main reason a person buys a $60.00 video game (and it isn’t Luke Cage, hello?), but seeing that it was the alternate costume for Thor made me pre-order (yah I get Big Ol’ Juggs too!).  While I know this is going to be the whole “Whose Side Are You On” thing but I’d really like to see a Thor vs  Red Hulk scene at some point in the game. I feel Thor deserves that much after Loeb made him get pwned by Rulk. I am a little annoyed that “Thor” is on the Pro-Reg side though. I don’t know how other people feel but to me that means he’s that racist ass clone, Clor. This is especially annoying for me because we all know the real Thor is down for the swirl.

The developers can make up for this by making Ares and the Young Avengers DLC . That would be amazing for me. Having Thor and Ares in this game together would just make me lose my shit. I mean I know they have to put in character like Songbird and Iron Fist (even he could have easily been DLC instead. Who the fuck cares about Iron Fist anyway?) but why did they include Phoenix?  She was dead during the storyline and how are her powers different than Invisible Woman’s (though does Ares = Wolverine+Thor)?

Oh speaking of DLC, how shitty is it that there is not a PC version (even though I have no interest in a PC version). I bet this was because of all the content created by fans over at MarvelMods for all the other games. Marvel has a long history of hating on its fan for just rejected Marvel’s reality and substituted their own. But now they are going to make use start paying for our own.

Either way the game comes out in 16 days and I’m pretty damn exciting about getting my copy. It might even pull me away from Marvel vs Capcom 2 for a little while.

Even though it is only going to be for 5 issues, this is exact what Astonishing X-Men needed to once again become a big seller.
